PHYSICIANS ARE AMONG THE MOST CRITICAL ELEMENTS of successful hospitals and ensuring the delivery of excellent patient care. The physicians of the four hospitals of Integrated Healthcare in Orange County are part of a long legacy of the region’s finest med ical practitioners-a system of community hospitals established by physicians more than a century ago.

What Is today known as Western Medical Center was founded by physicians in 1902 as Santa Ana Hospital. An acute care hospital designated as a Level II trauma center and centrally located in Orange County. Western Medical Center offers a broad selection of services includ ing neurology. eardiology, trauma. emergency. burn services, rehabilitative care and programs for seniors, women. and children.

With more than 700 primary-care physicians and specialists, 800 employees and 200 volunte-ers. Western Medical Center continues to be a leading medical innovator in the region. Western Medical Center became one of Orange County’s first trauma centers more than 25 years ago and was one of the first hospitals in the county to open a neonatal intens ive ~care unit.

Chapman Medical Center. a 114·bed acute-care facility in Orange. provides high-technology tertiary services. Open since 1969, services include the Orthoped ic Institute. the Chapman Neurosurgical Spine lnsti1ute, workers·compensation services, and the Chapman Center for Obesity, a designated Bariattic Surgery Center of Excellence by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Western Medic-al Center in Anaheim has been serving the community for nearly 40 years. A 188·bed acute-care facili ty staffed by more than 650 employees and 250 doctors and experts health professionals. the hospital offers a spectrum of medical expertise and advanced technologies.

Coastal Communities Hospital in Santa Ana opened its doors in 1973 and continues to offer compassionate medical care. Services include a 24·hour emergency room, one of the co unty’s targest·tong·term su b~acute unites with 46 beds. and a lull spectrum of additional services.

Integrated Health care took ow~>ership of these four Orange County hospaals in March 2005, embracing the tong Uadition of serving each patient with compasSionate care and the highest levels of medical expertise available today.
